Outlook 2003 contacts: How to

How do you remove the advanced formating of phone numbers in the contacts list in outlook 2003?

When you ad a users phone number (5555555555) outlook will automatically format the number ((555)555-5555)this is ok for most users but we have a user with fax software and when in syncs with outlook address book you get this funky number formatting and faxes will not send.

I think it added a +9 before some numbers too (i think the user added the 9 to get an outside line, but not a +)

Any help/tips is great
