Outlook 2003 Recurring Meetings problem

When I open a single occurance of a recurring meeting to change the date and/or time of that one occurance, my boss will accept the change, but the cancelled date/time will still appear on his calendar. Any ideas without him having to delete it? Why would it just be him and not other folks?
