Outlook Web Access and Security

My Network Administrator is somewhat hesitant to use Outlook Web Access because of security reasons. On the other hand, I work from home frequently and need to have access to my email. I can dial-in but it’s very time consuming and ties up my phone line. Are there major security concerns with using Outlook Web Access?
