Paragraph Numbering Word2000

I am trying to create test questions. I have been trying to use the numbering (bullets) feature. I want to number my questions consecutively but I want the answers to start over again with the first letter. I have tried every combination I can think of using the paragraph options and cannot get it to work…any ideas?

1. this is question one
A. answer one
B. answer two
2. this is question two
A. answer one
B. question one
