Passbook Printing on COM Port

We have an Oracle Forms application that prints some vouchers etc. onto a passbook printer connected to the COM port. Now the customer wants to change the printing to dot matrix printer/LPT. The formatting etc.. we can handle but, do you know of achieving this somehow without having to change the application?
