pcanywhere forcing the modem to be unplugged

by tds_ati . Updated 17 years, 5 months ago

I have an application that requires the use of com2 via dial-up to another machine. I also use pcanywhere to connect to the same machine for another purpose. The application and pcanywhere are not used at the same time.

The first application works fine UNTIL….I launch pcanywhere and subsequently close it. Once I do this, the first application will return an error that the modem is not online. The only way to resolve the issue is to uplug the modem and then plug it back in. The application works fine until the next time pcanywhere is launched.

The good news….I can repeat the problem every time. The bad news…..I’m not sure how to resolve it. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Steps taken so far:
– Moved the modem from com2 to com4 – same issue. (something is on com3 already)
– changed the setting from com2 to USB – same issue
– added initialization strings to the modem properties – same issue
– reset modem parameters via mode.com after running pcanywhere – same issue.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
