Php Sesstions

In my application I want to pass the values of 1st page to 2nd page. I used sessions for that.
my code is like this
1st page:
session_start();
$_session[‘name’]=”some one”;

2nd page
echo $_session[‘name’];

but here I unable to read the answer from second page. Are there any wrong with me? Please instruct me to correct this.
