pioneer sata dvd dvr212 burner

just recently added this burner to my computer as it has 4 x sata connecters on mother board now computer will not restart after shut down and is very very slow to burn movies
comuter is a hp imedia h304 amd athlon 64 3200+ running hp home edition witch came standard with an ide burner. can any help?
