Please Help

I’ve a problem with my Acer Travelmate2428.
i decided to format may laptop and setup again. but when i plugged WinXP bootable cd in CD-R it’s shutting down after 2 or 3 min. later.
i cleared BIOS and took out the battery, there is no change.
What should i do? Please help. thanks…
