Power went out. Finder is glitchy and slow – iMac Intel core i5 OS X 10.9.5

There was a power outage at my house while my computer was on and upon booting up later, the Finder app is behaving erratically (e.g. folders sometimes don’t open / will freeze during navigation, minimizing a window left tracers on the window behind it). I relaunched Finder and reset the SCM and PRAM. There is an external hard drive and the computer is set to backup periodically, so that may have been happening when the power went out, fyi.
