Powering up HP 705

I have an HP 705. When I returned from vacation the pc will not turn on. When I press the start button I hear the fan kick in but in about three seconds it goes back to nothing and then it will try to start again. It will try to start 3 or 4 times and then nothing happens.

I am not very technically inclined so the simplest explaination would be best.
