PPPoE, rp-ppoe and static IP

by lordinfidel . Updated 23 years, 2 months ago

I posted this question to voy.com’s forum.

Using RP’s pppoe driver, I know that you should’t assign a static IP to the interface.

But what happens if you “have” a static IP.
I couldn’t find an option to do this. It seems like it assumes that it has to be dhcp.

I only ask because I don’t feel like blowing the system up.

I’m using RH8 for this install (text-mode).

I’ve been searching the net for the last 2 days and I have not been able to find any related docs that cover rp-ppoeand static ip’s.

if you can post the url of the info you find that would be great. Unless you have done it and you can point me in the right direction that would be even better.

I’m sure that it is just something stupid that I am overlooking.
