PPTP VPN Termination

Our remote workers access the company servers via MS-PPTP connections. Some are cable modem, some are ADSL, and some are SDSL. The problem is that at random intervals, for unknown reasons, the remote workers are being disconnected from their VPN connections. We tried isolating the RAS server on a seperate dedicated server, but it still continues to happen. What could be causing this??
