print 2-D barcodes from UniVerse/AIX

Hi to all,
We’re looking for suggestions for this project: we wish to add a PDF417 (2-dimensional) barcode to an order ticket that we currently print on a laser printer. Our system is totally text-based, P5-520 server, terminals, and OKI B6200n laser printers. We know we need to add some software to create and output the barcode, but we’d like to know what experiences other shops can share. Our existing software environment is called UniVerse and is a “MultiValue” database (“Pick”-like) that has a Business-BASIC derived programming language. All of the existing applications were created internally, so we can modify as needed, but any kind of graphic ‘stuff’ is new territory here.
Thanks in advance for your comments and suggestions,
—Will
