Print spooler stops working must reboot

I have an HP2605dn printer on a home network that won’t print after a period of time but it works fine after I reboot. I experience the problem from both XP and XP Pro computers on the network. The print job hangs in the spooler after a period of idle time.
If I stop and restart the spooler, the printer works. I flashed the hardware, unloaded and reinstalled drivers with the same result. This just started about a month ago.
