Problem with DNS

In my network client use dns(we do not use proxy) to connect to internet throught our internetserver which is a member server in our network.But after upgrading our PDC from nt4 to windows 2000 which is also running dns server.client can access internet but cannot ping to domain name, and if clients put PDC ip adres as dns they cannot access internet.How to solve this problem?
