I have recently upgraded my PC system with a newly purchased motherboard GIGABYTE GA-MA78GPM-DS2H (AMD 780G chipset) and an AMD Phenom x4 9950 CPU. The operating system is WinXP Professional (service pack 2).
The PC was working all right until the time when my Canon IP3000 printer was being installed. During the installation process, the USB interface became very unstable. Most of the time the printer was not detected at all. But even when it was detected and the driver successfully installed, the printer was not working, and, worst still, the PC will not shut down and the following boot-up was not straight forward as if something had been corrupted in the printer installation process.
Any idea what is the problem and the cure?
