Problem with my Laptop

Dear All,

Please help me with this problem, the problem is

I am able to normally boot up my laptop and able to get the log in window, when i provide the credentials for log in to the laptop i am authenticated but i am not able to get nothing on my desktop no icon no start menu just he desktop screen and nothing at all.

What can be the problemn please help me as soon as possible?
