Problems booting Linux SUSE

by ray . Updated 18 years, 2 months ago

For some time I have problems booting my Linux SUSE9.2. Mostly the boot takes me to the command prompt although occasionally the boot will work correctly. When the boot fails and I run df -k I see 2 /dev/hda2 filesystems and a message saying that “no message logging because /var file system is not accessibly”. Also fsck failed, repair manually and reboot. I a specialise in Oracle not System Adminstration so please bear this in mind when replying!!
