Problems with KVM Switch

I just installed a KVM switch on our home PC and wanted it to work with my husband’s laptop. Everything with the switching works fine, but the keyboard and mouse is not working. They work for the PC, but not the laptop. We have a trendnet TK-209K. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
