I am attempting to install an NT4 server as a BDC. When I finish the network components installation portion, the pc tries to contact the PDC so that it can get the SID of the domain and store it away somewhere in the registry. For some reason, the pc is unable to contact the pdc. I have made sure that the nic(s) are working properly, and I have even made sure that I can ping them from the PDC. I have also imported an lmhosts file with a domain entry and an entry for the domain controller per mskb article Q180094. I am still getting the same error when the box tries to reach the domain controller. GRRRRR!!!
My question is 1. What on earth is causing this to happen 2. How can I get this god forsaken box up and running as a BDC?
Ithink that my best bet might be to install the box as a member server then go through the registry hack (I know it exists, I just cannot find what it is) to convert it from a member server to a BDC. Does anyone know what this registry hack is? Thank you very much.
