Problems with USB Wirless adapter

Have an XP Pro SP3 PC on home wireless network.

Problem is that the Linksys Wireless USB adapter (WUSB54GS2 v2) is not enabled by Windows when powered on. Right now I am down to having to physically disconnect and then reconnect the device for it begin operating. Firmware and drivers are up to date. Fresh clean XP with SP3 installation.

I am trying to figure out why the device will not enable on initial power/log on. Device operates normally until next system shutdown and restart.

Any ideas appreciated. Or if someone can help me come up with a startup script to shutdown and restart the device?
