Hi,
I am developing a client/server software program in Java that needs to communicate with QuickBooks 2003 and will run on a network with a new server and two existing Windows PCs.
I am tossing up between a Windows server and a Linux server.I would like QuickBooks to be installed on the server and I would like to be able to run a Linux server. I assume it is possible to run QuickBooks 2003 on a Linux Server (using wine).
What I am concerned about, if I use a Linux server, is whether accessing an application (ie QuickBooks) that runs using wine will be slower than when it runs on a Windows machine. Does anyone know?
I will need to use the QuickBooks dll to access the application from my program. Is it possible to use a Windows dll on a Linux machine in this way?
Thanks in advance.
Rebecca.
