Random Blue Screen

by luketigers . Updated 15 years, 8 months ago

Hi, ok I had logged on to my computer in the morning and turned on AVG because a program I use/d was having connectivity programs (the program Curse Client, pointed at AVG – apparently a known problem for them).

So I re-open Curse after having AVG on to let AVG give me the window asking to allow permission, I click yes. I go onto Firefox and I was looking for some type of steak to cook on google………..BLUE SCREEN!

I was very surprised, have not had one since using WINDOWS 7 (4 months), I restart my computer and this time I just close down Curse completely. I turn on AVG to run a scan and return to Firefox to look for dinner. I also turn on Windows Defender to take an extra look at the BSOD problem. AVG then asks me to allow a Windows program (Defender?) to run, this time I allow for SAFE. I return to Firefox and …FROZEN!

From there I ran to safe mode on restart and uninstalled Curse (usually fine – different icon?) and anything else suspicious (nothing really suspicious there).

So I came back to normal windows and apparently all is well. I got a message on startup asking if I wanted to reinstall Curse (noty) and everything runs ok, BUT I am on alert and do not want to use PW or programs unitl I can figure out the problem.

Any help wpuld be appreciated as I need to know if this is a hard/software problem, virus or an attempted hack of some sort.
