Rebuilding IT after the attacks

by epepke . Updated 24 years, 9 months ago

I need to set up a new site for an organization devoted to mobilizing and coordinating technical assistance after the WTC attacks and (gulp!) any future attacks.

I need recommendations for a place to purchase a .org domain and a web site hoster. These may be the same or different companies.

The criteria are as follows:

1) Minimum hassle

2) The ability to install existing UN*X-based software

3) Minimalist system management, including a shell prompt. Due to the very nature of thework, I cannot always have accessible last week’s version of Hoojimongle Zippy-Net. I have to be able to do everything through telnet and ftp or even a dial-up serial line.

4) Perl absolutely required, DHTML with .shtml highly desirable, Java and JSP desirable, ASP and Python somewhat desirable.

5) Reasonable amount of disk space. It need not be huge.

Anybody have recommendations?
