recovering xp activation from unbootable HD

Hello,
My XP crashed and I am no longer able to boot from the HD. I am able to access the HD after booting from another drive. I need to get the WinXP product code off of the messed up HD and get it to activate the now active version of windows. Where do I look on the HD?
