Redundent Routes in Exchange 5.5 SP3

I have a problem where there are quite a few redundent routes in routing tables around the organisation. Exchange 5.5 SP2/3 is supposed to delete these routes after recalculation but this does not appear to be happening. This is causing “loop detection” when it is trying to send mail down the wrong routes..

Anybody with any ideas please?
