Remote access computer to computer

I work for a nonprofit organization and run a small IT department. I wanted to know how secure and safe the Logmein.com is to use. Its free and very simple to use but I don’t want to setup employees on it until I have more information. We have a secured router, gateway network with static IP’s assigned to every PC in our building. I’ve set it up from my workstation to connect to my home PC but I don’t want to take security risk. We’re on a tight budget.
