Remote Administration

Can anyone tell me how to remotely adminster a secured linux server runnging RH6.1? I am a dos/windows user and my linux tech quit on me. I can telnet into the system using WIN95 telnet, but running linuxconfig gives me some jumbled menus and I can’t see what to choose. Is there a specific font I should use or another terminal program that works better? Can the GNOME starx be run remotely? If so, how do I set that up on a WIN9X system?
