Removable Disc Icon in Windows

Hi all,

Manier times I use USB drives to transfer data. I always get a question while doing this. Which part / program within MS Windows brings up icon on “My Computer” whenever any hot pluggable mass storage device is connected? I have basic knowldge of WDM but I really failed to search answer of this question. How exactly this icon comes in “My Computer”?
