Replacing a User Profile

What is the best method in removing a corrupted User’s profile but keeping their files, including IE, FF Favorites and History.

It seems User profiles start to get very large and some IE settings get corrupt or changed. It seems it would be easier to just create a new profile and just keep their files.

Any ideas, Pros and Cons about this idea?
