resolution & changing prompts

I changed the screen resolution on the GUI of Fedora Core version fo Linux, but it’s too much for the LCDs that I work with – is there a way I can change it from the command line?

Also, I’m having difficulty changing the primary and secondary prompts. If anyone could help me with those, that would be awesome. Thanks.
