Restoring an Exchange mailbox using ArcS

by crafu . Updated 25 years, 7 months ago

Hi there,
To cut a long story short, I need to restore a deleted exchange 5.5 mailbox from an ArcServe backup tape. I can see the mailbox that I want to restore on the backup tape and I have selected that I want to restore it to it’s original position. I enter the correct usernames and passwords to the ArcServe program but when I run the restore it fails and displays this message, “License has been terminated”.
I spoke to on of our contractors and he tells me that once an Exchange mailbox has been deleted it can’t be restored as the security and permissions values will be different for a new mailbox, even if it was created to be identical to the original one.
I’ve checked technet and they suggest installing a second version of Exchange 5.5 on a different server and then restoring the mailbox to that one. Then mucking about with *.pst files, etc, etc.
Any ideas? I?m screwed if I can?t get this working.
Cheers,
Craig
