Icelandic authorities have just announced the capture and killing of a minke whale, which they have tried to justify as scientific necessity.
This is a blatant sham and pretence for the nation to start commercial whaling, which, will no doubt if not stopped, start the wholesale murder of these magnificent creatures by not only the Icelenders but also the Japanese and Russians, who still have thier whaling ships available. (though most are mothballed)
The US has the right under the pelly amendment of the Whaling Commision to impose sanctions on the Island if they feel the Icelenders are undermining the international conservation plan.
I just hope the US applios pressure on the offending nature to force a return to the essence of the commission, and if not then place sanction and embargoes on Iceland without delay.
