Roaming to local profiles in NT4 domain

Hi we have almost 70 users now most of whom are on NT workstations with roaming profiles. The problem is our PDC cannot cope very well when everybody logs off at the same time and it nedds to update all those profiles. So my question is what is the best and most unobtrusive way of migrating people to local profiles. Suggestions please.
