router troubles:what simple approach?

what make it so that sometimes routers configured to tranmit signals as point to multi-point as well as point2point(double interface routers) fails at particular point in time without simple explanation of why it’s so but turning on/off the router makes it work again…or a simple rebooting..am stucked here!
