Same name, different domains

Would there be a naming conflict if there were desktops with the same names but they were in different domains, on a two server network? We lost Active Directory and had to restore from tape backup, during the addition of a new server to the network. The servers had different names, and there were two separate domains, but some desktops had the same names. Anyone run into this, or, maybe something unrelated caused our problem.
