I am currently looking for an alternative to SAP R/3 for my employer. Faced with the discontinuation of support for release 4.0B at the end of 2004 I need to find alternatives to put to the board of directors. The fact is that our adoption of SAP in 1999 was ambitious to say the least and 4 years on SAP is still a poor fit for the business. The reason for this is that as a company we have never had the financial resource available to correct this. My question is as follows;
1. Does anyone have any advice for me with regards to this project.
2. Does anyone know of any solution which would be a good fit for a 4th party service company. Basic requirement is capacity planning, stock control, web ordering and invoicing for around 1,500 items/month.
p.s As a last resort I’m considering writing or having a custom application written to fulfil this need.
