Scanners that work thru printers or v.s.

I have a printer that will not work, now, and before that my scanner would not work due to the fact it would say it can’t find the Interface card: ASPI. But I can find it on my pc. Sometimes I get lucky and it will scan the picture. But most the time it will not, and now the printer will not work. Communication problem cause by this scanner. Microtek
