Scary place to be…

I am a 12 year veteren with experiance with desktop sales and support, Network sales and intermediate support and LAN/WAN/WLAN/VOIP sales and light support. I have owned a buisiness but have been bought out and moved to a new area of the country, Northern Colorado to be specific. I am VERY interested in moving from the employee model back into a owner/consultant model. This is a scary place for me to be and I would love someone to give me some tips on the pros and cons of pushing off from the peer, as it were, and starting an independant consulting career in this area of the country.
