I have a notebook runnning Windows XP with a Radeon 9700 graphics adapter which supports resolutions up to 1280 x 1024 @ 75hz. Attached to the notebook is a BENQ FP737S monitor that also supports 1280 x 1024 @ 75hz. Apparently the notebook screen only supports 1024 x 768 @ 60hz. In order to display all of an application screen I need to have the display at 1280 x 1024 but when I set the display to this I find the desktop is bigger than the display meaning I have to pan left/right/up/down in order to see all aspects of the desktop or the application. It seems that the desktop gets set to 1280 x 1024 but the screen display stays at 1024 x 768.
In XP there are two monitors set but each is the standard XP VGA monitor.
I don’t have access to a network administrator and some functions on the notebook like adding/changing hardware are locked out so I haven’t been able to add the BENQ monitor.
What do I need to do to get everything running at 1280 x 1024 ?
