We have a Seagate Baracuda 120GB SATA drive that failed in early November. According to Seagate the drive was purchased by the distributor in Aug 2003, and we purchased it from the distributor Nov 26, 2003.
Seagate’s website clearly states that certain models, this one included, and sold on or after June 28, 2003, are now covered by a 5 year warranty.
E-mails and faxes have gotten no response from Seagate. Direct phone calls result in “Duhhhhhh”.
My distributor has taken the challange and is trying to resolve the matter because they agree with us that the drive is clearly in warranty.
This kind of treatment is usually an indication of a business in severe financial problems.
We have removed Seagate from our approved vendors list.
