Search using the MFT

I think this has been asked previously but I have been unable to find the post. It is with limited understanding that if one could use the MFT for searching, not only would it search everywhere but the results return very fast. But this presents security issues at the very least so it is not for every user or every search. But for those of us who “have” to tweak our own machines, such a search engine would helpful (i.e., Fun). I believe there is an open source program or two that would do this kind of search but I have been unable to come up with the correct web search parameters. Is anyone willing to share the location with me?
