I am currently a Network Admin for a small (less than 100 employees) medical group. I support the clients and 6 total locations including our corporate office. We are a windows network & I maintain day to day operations, etc.
I have recently been offered a position with an IT Consulting firm as a systems engineer. They have offered a pretty lucrative deal, about a 30% raise in total compensation. The IT consulting group is a small company – 5 total employees. They are profitable and growing, however.
My dilema is this – if I move the the consulting firm what is the impact on my future career growth? Will the diversity in consulting provide me with more long term career possiblities? In my current position there is a looming possibility of growing within the company – or at least there USED to be…Management is changing & things are a little unsettled.
Has anyone done this or can anyone offer me any advice on this? I’m really struggling whether or not to take the plunge with the consulting group…
