Selecting Data from a n excel drop down list

I have made an excel drop down list from which I enter names into a cell in excel sheet.The list is so long that I have to scroll down to look for the names.
How can I index or authofilter the drop down list so that if I click an alphabet the drop down list will display only names that begin with the alphabet
