setting PATH variables in Solaris 8

Hi, having trouble with getting our JRE and Oracle to work correctly. I believe the issue resides in setting the PATH variable to point correctly to the new location of the recently installed JDK131. However, I’m not exactly sure how to set the PATH variable in Solaris 8. I figure it is either a command like ‘set PATH=’ or it is in a file. any help would be greatly appreciated.
