Setting up a 1- Port Fast Ethernet Netwo

I need help on setting up a 1-port Fast Ethernet Network card. First of all i have never set up a router before and i have just installed the card into the router. Ineed help on configuring the router to see the card so that i can connect my RJ-45 cable to a satelite link reciever..
