Setting up an auto responder in Exchange

by roy humphreys . Updated 25 years, 8 months ago

I have a simple request. I work for a publishing corp. and one thing we would like to do is automatically reply to a subscriber when they send an e-mail to a journal account. For example,

message in : “when am I going to get my second issue”

Auto reply : “Thanks for your e-mail. We will look into it and get back to you. Maybe”

You get the idea. I know you can set up Outlook to run an auto reply rule, but rules only work on the main profile you log on with and not subsequent mailboxes you open. For instance. If I log on to my own mailbox and also open a shared (journal) mailbox, rules will run for my own e-mail, but not the shared account. I currently have one auto-responder set-up for a journal and others are requesting them. I don’t want to have possibly 40 PC’s set-up doing nothing other than sending out auto replies and was wondering if there is any way of setting this up on the Exchange server itself. (i.e. at the mailbox level)

Thanks alot.

Roy
