Setting up ubuntu server

I am trying to install ubuntu. I get dynamic IP from my ISP through cable modem.I want to distribute IPs using DHCP to my LAN PCs. my main problem is how to configure dhcp server.Can anyone help with a step by step process. Please if possible give as much detatil as possible on the dhcpd.conf file
