Thought I would see what everyone thought: I’m a San Francisco Bay Area techie (Java, OO, etc.) who got into consulting because, well, I got laid off and contracts were the only jobs I could find.
It seems like software gigs here in the SFBA are starting to pick up. Until January 2003, you had to be Superman to get a job: have *every single* skill listed and get paid 1/3 your normal rate. But as of the new year, I’ve noticed things picking up. I’ve landed 2 contracts, one at a major shop everyone has heard of, and they have, and I had a few strikes against me in the skills department (for this particular job.).
